  • This is a phenomenal B&B experience. My girlfriend and I were beyond satisfied. David and Margie provided wonderful hospitality--they are very sweet and catered to our every need. They allowed us to choose exactly when we wanted breakfast to be served the next day, gave us complete privacy in our Master Suite, were very communicative about everything, were nice and talkative, etc. I was very impressed with Margie's breakfast and she even ave us a choice of coffee, tea--Steven Smith tea (which I had never tried and is absolutely amazing!), and an assortment of juice and other drinks. We had a great view of the trees from our Master Suite bedroom where they have a cute nook. You can see all the birds flying around from the window. They even have a nice trail that goes around the house, as well as a nice deck if you want to relax, and their living room which has comfy chairs and unique little puzzle games/crafts that David had made--which are fun and are meant to be solved in certain ways. Their bathroom was also a treat--a large tub complete with rubber ducky, walk-in shower, and heated floors. There was also wonderful complimentary soap, shampoos, conditioners, body wash, as well as snacks--granola bars, chocolates, etc, all at no extra charge. It was also nice, too, because they let us pay in the morning once we checked out (instead of requesting us to pay at check-in). It was an amazing experience and I would easily be back again in a heartbeat the next time I visit Portland!- Tony, Seattle

  • Whether you want to immerse yourself in nature, or just view it from the comfort of a wood-stove warmed chair, Margie's home is perfect. Beautiful Forest Park trails are adjoining the property, and just about every amenity you can think of is provided. The included breakfast was amazing, and left me wanting recipes. Highly recommended! - Shenoa, Seattle
  • The home was warm, welcoming, and in the perfect location for travelers looking for excursions in Portland's great outdoors with access to the city. Steps from Forest Park's miles of trails, we could have spent a week here getting lost. Alas, we only had a weekend. But Margie and David made our stay memorable, and they were kind and welcoming hosts. The breakfast was delicious and thoughtful (did not bat an eye to my gluten aversion), and Margie (pronounced with a hard "g", by the way) even gave me a printed recipe so I can recreate the addictive granola she makes from scratch. They were open and conversational without being invasive, and we felt totally accepted. When we looked for guidance, they were armed with maps, books, and spot-on recommendations from a real resident's lens. I would stay here again without hesitation. - Jackie, Milwaukee

  • Margie and David were wonderful and made my husband and me feel so welcome in their beautiful home. We would happily stay there again. They were so attentive and caring without being intrusive, and helped us with restaurant recommendations, as well as hiking tips and suggestions. Breakfast was DELICIOUS and kept us full well into the day, which was helpful since we were doing so much. My husband and I did our laundry while we were there and Margie actually folded our clothes for us! Such wonderful hosts. Their home was absolutely beautiful - so much charming detail that shows you how much time and love has been put into their home. Location was excellent, as it was an easy drive into the city and mere steps from the Forest. We are so grateful that we were able to stay here since we'd only gotten in after a cancellation. Just a wonderful B&B - I'll definitely be recommending it to friends traveling to Portland in the future.  - Wei and Kathy, Washington DC
  • Margie and David live on the most beautiful piece of land in Forest Park. Their home is naturally nestled in the center of the park with an inviting deck in which to enjoy the beauty and peace. My daughter and I had come to Oregon exploring her options for College next year. Every morning while we enjoyed the most exquisite breakfast, Margie and David would offer very helpful insight into the colleges we were visiting that day. They were friendly, gracious, and made us feel right at home. If my daughter chooses to go to school in Portland I know where my husband and I will be staying when we visit. - Therese, MO
  • "Gracious lodging" is an apt description. This home, its surroundings and the hosts, Margie and David, combine to make a stay memorable. From arrival through departure their warmth, hospitality, phenomenal cooking and considerate attention to detail makes this retreat in the wooded hills west of Portland a gem. I already wish I was back on their deck savoring the quiet punctuated only by the birds and a subtle water feature.- Barry, CO

  • I can't even come up with words of how perfect this place is! Margie and David were great hosts. Just close enough to downtown to be convenient and just far enough away to be beautiful and relaxing. And the price is unbeatable. Do not hesitate for one second to stay here. We will be coming back!- Andrew, NV
  • Very pleasant location in the middel of the beautiful forest park. Great for running. Margie and David are great hosts and very helpful. I will certainly come back again.  -  Harm, The NL
  • Everything here was lovely. The house and yard are more beautiful than the pictures show, with beautiful flowers both indoors and outside. I felt very welcome. The room was nice and cozy, and we were given a variety of nice snacks in a welcome basket, as well as all the toiletries we might need. I very much enjoyed watching the many types of birds that visited their birdfeeders in the morning, and the hosts are very knowledgeable about them. (They are both a pleasure to chat with.) Also: the breakfasts were very delicious, and Margie made sure with us the previous night that we would like them. She even offered to make a picnic breakfast up in case we wanted to leave early to go hiking. I was happy that they composted, too. We met the dog, who is very quiet and sweet, but never saw the cat. I would highly recommend staying here if you have a car and want to be very near Portland, but want somewhere quiet and forested!  -  Alice, CT

  • Margie & David were wonderful hosts. They invited me to their beautiful home in forest park--a perfect location just outside of downtown Portland. If you have the chance to visit, it is truly one-of-a-kind! It's a very quiet area with lots of space for lounging. There is a nice deck around a little less than half of the home to hang out and chit-chat. Margie & David were so kind to tell me about their experiences and it was really great meeting them. Breakfast was even provided!  -  Jason, OR

  • My girlfriend and I got to experience the absolute best first Airbnb stay possible. Margie and David were very kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable hosts who made our trip to Portland unforgettable. The property is truly amazing. You get to experience the beautiful Forest Park from a perspective that not many people get to while also being a 10 minute drive from the popular Nob Hill district. Margie's attention to detail is top notch and her cooking is to die for. We really looked forward to our breakfast each morning. The food was fresh and delicious and the conversations with Margie and David were warm and enlightening. We wholeheartedly recommend this bed and breakfast as a truly unique experience that you will not find anywhere else. Can't wait to come back to visit Margie, David, Addie and the elusive Flinter.  -  Chris, CA

  • We're staying in a nice B&B in Depoe Bay. It's rated as the best in the area, but we wanted to let you know it's not a patch on yours. However,  the weather is far nicer :-)  - Ben and Shona, Canada

  • Margie and David are exceptional hosts. I had an absolutely amazing stay at their beautiful place nestled within Forest Park. Margie contacted me ahead of time to make sure if I had any dietary restrictions. They left snacks, maps, creams, soaps, toothpaste all ready to go in the room. The decor was stunning. My sister and I wanted to go hike the nearby trails (literally at the end of their driveway) in the evening. They immediately provided us with flashlights to use. We did get lost and took us a bit of time to backtrack back. Margie is so sweet. She went out to go check on us. We also had to opportunity to meet their sweet dog, Addie who greets you at the door every time you walk in. The next morning, we had the most amazing breakfast: homemade granola yogurt parfait, toasted croissant, orange juice, coffee, and a fancy egg, ham, potato dish over fresh greens. We had great conversations over breakfast. They were extremely helpful with providing information on where to go nearby. I would highly recommend their bed and breakfast and would love to return in a heart beat. - Lucy, OR

  • We spent a week in Portland to visit our son & wife and our newly born granddaughter. This guesthouse was a good opportunity to visit them at a relatively short distance from their home. The house of Margie and David is located in the "forest park" and easily accessible from the center and Western side of Portland. We mostly appreciated the full quietness of this place and the surrounded nature, as well as the high level of hospitality of our hosts in all details; in addition, the comfort of the b&b and the quality of the breakfast are really noticeable. - Annie and Michel, Brussels, Belgium

Our lodgings definitely exceeded expectations. They even had a small gift basket of treats for us in the room when we arrived! Amazing breakfasts. We really can't say enough about this place -- if we were in Portland again, we'd stay in an instant. Thanks, Margie and Dave! P.S. As they are very clear in the description, internet is on satellite, so don't expected to be "connected" while you're there. But who cares?! That's the whole point!- Ryan, CA

  • My husband and I have known Margie for over 20 years and have been eagerly anticipating the opening of her B & B in Forest Park. The tranquil setting matches Margie's graciousness and any patron will feel well cared for in the woodsy warmth of the lovingly renovated home. We have loved sharing travel and lifetime experiences with Margie and her husband, David, throughout the years including cycling in Italy and snowshoeing the the Oregon Cascades. Margie knows how to be both a guest and a hostess and will make a weary traveler feel comfortable and comforted. We had a first hand experience last month when we stayed with her in the "queen" room.
